21-year-old SuGui Kriss was born in Kunming, China, but was came to the United States at age 8 when she was adopted by an American couple. Last week, she returned to China for the Beijing Paralympics, representing the United States as a member of its sitting volleyball team: Adoptee Returns to China and Helps U.S. Team Win.

The United States team finished with a 2-1 record in pool play and will face the Netherlands on Friday in the semifinals. The Americans won the bronze four years ago in Athens, and a victory against the Dutch would put them into the gold medal game — probably against China. The Americans’ only loss was to China, the defending Paralympic champions.

If all goess well, SuGui Kriss could be returning home from the Paralympics with a medal. She might me missing a few limbs, but she’s still an asskicker. More on her here: SuGui Kriss Takes Pilgrimage on Personal Road to Beijing.
